Two Sitting Figures (verso)

1508-10
Black chalk, 320 x 228 mm
Biblioteca Reale, Turin

The drawings on the verso of this sheet, depicting two sitting figures, are related to figures in the lunettes of the Sistine ceiling. The left female figure is a study for the painting of Hezekiah - Manasseh - Amon lunette at the right below the Cumaean Sibyl. It is possible that the second drawing on the sheet was planned for the same female figure, although in her posture she resembles the female figure in the Azor - Zadok lunette.
