NANNI DI BARTOLO
(active 1419-1435)

Brenzoni Monument

c. 1426
Marble
San Fermo Maggiore, Verona

Nanni di Bartolo had left Florence in 1424 after work on the Cathedral and Campanile. In Venice he may have been associated with Lamberti and he is known to have worked at Verona on the Brenzoni monument in San Fermo Maggiore.

The monument depicts the Resurrection beneath a large canopy, surrounded by a fresco of the Annunciation painted by Antonio Pisanello. At the apex, on a foliated capital, stands a prophet.
