In this characteristic moonlit landscape by Van der Neer, the moon illuminates a landscape with a muddy track running past a few houses on which two waggoners are being bothered by dogs as they make their way home. A couple of fishermen in their boats are taking advantage of the peaceful moonlit night, and a handful of sailing boats have been severely delayed by the lack of wind.
