Palazzo Ducale, Venice

The Sala del Senato (or Sala dei Pregadi) was designed by Antonio da Ponte, an architect and engineer, famous for building the Rialto Bridge in Venice. The paintings in the elaborate ceiling are by various late-sixteenth-century artists, while those on the walls are mostly by Palma Giovane. The paintings in this room by Carpaccio, Giorgione and Titian were destroyed by the fire in 1574.
