The counterpiece of this traditional Dutch portrait - the portrait of the sitter's husband Herman Doomer, a cabinetmaker of German origin who worked in Amsterdam - is in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. Both paintings were inherited by Lambert Doomer, the couple's son, who was a pupil of Rembrandt. He made and signed copies for his five brothers as required by the will of his parents.
