RENOIR, Pierre-Auguste

Water (Large Laundress)

1917
Bronze, 123 x 69 x 135 cm
Musée d'Orsay, Paris

From 1907 Renoir began working on sculptures. In turning to sculpture in old age, Renoir resembles Degas.

The sculpture entitled Water was created in collaboration with Richard Guino (1890-1973). In this sculpture a woman's figure, typical of Renoir's paintings, has assumed three-dimensional form.
