Between 1436 and 1438 Bernardo was among the masons working on the Chiostro degli Aranci and the dormitory at the Badia Fiorentina in Florence. Although this project has been attributed to Antonio di Domenico, it is assumed that Bernardo Rossellino contributed the fluted pilasters that link the cloister's two orders of columns. These pilasters, each crossed by a string course, mark a geometric division of the walls, reflecting the principles of harmony and mathematical proportion that were then being propounded.
