Schloss Rosenstein, Stuttgart

Work on planning Rosenstein Park, originally outside but now within the city of Stuttgart, began in 1817. The Schloss in Rosenstein was constructed for King William I between 1824 and 1829 by Giovanni Salucci. The building is symmetrically laid out, with a two-story centre pavilion. The influence of Salucci's French and Italian training is quite evident. The side porticos, consisting of baseless Tuscan columns, indicate the function of the house as a private retreat.
