Schinkel's Neue Wache guardhouse is located between Andreas Schlüter's Arsenal and the Altes Museum. Its portico echoes Langhan's Doric theme in the Brandenbutg Gate of 1789, but goes a step further in the archeological accuracy of its Doric order, with the battered pylons beside the portico emphasizing the military nature of the building.
