SCHÖDLBERGER, Johann Nepomuk
(b. 1779, Wien, d. 1853, Wien)

Ideal Landscape: Morning

Oil on canvas, 131 x 171 cm
Akademie der bildenden Künste, Vienna

Schödlberger was in Rome in 1817-18, but the two ideal landscapes illustrating the times of the day (shown here) were painted in Vienna. They demonstrate that the painter was a student of Claude Lorrain but the influence of the Hackert landscape school can be also observed.
