Portrait of a Lady

-
Oil on canvas, 157 x 120 cm
Private collection

The sitter of the portrait is probably Anna Constanze, Countess of Cosel (1680-1765). She is portrayed three-quarter length, dressed in green and pink silks and playing a lute. She was the mistress of the Saxon King August II, whom she bore three children. A number of portraits of her by Silvestre are recorded in Saxon Royal inventories.
