Van der Straeten designed, together with Tilman-François Suys (1783-1861), the Palace of the Prince of Orange, which is today's Academy Palace in Brussels. He avoided the severity of his Orangery and gave the façade, with its distinctively projecting corners, colossal Ionic pilasters based on the model of Palladio.
