This engraving was Surugue's 'morceau de réception' at the Académie in 1735. It was executed after a portrait by Antoine Mathieu (c. 1631-1673). It shows the portrait of French painter Louis Boullogne the Elder, half-length, turned to left, in trompe l'oeil window, with right hand on canvas; palette, brushes and book on the window sill.
