This engraving was made after Cecchino Salviati's design for the fresco cycle in the Oratorio di San Giovanni Decollato, Rome. However, it was not realized, the scene was awarded to Jacopino del Conte, who, following a sketch by Perino del Vaga, executed the fresco in 1541.
