These miniatures are from the oldest survived Greek illustrated codex. The text of the manuscript is lost, 58 miniatures, cut from the codex, are preserved in the Ambrosiana Library.

The upper miniature, shown here, depicts two battle scenes from the Trojan War, while the lower one represents Greek heroes, Achilles, Patroclus, and others.
