This manuscript derives its name from its association with the monastery of Saint-Jean de Laon, founded by Salaberga (died 665), who was its first abbess. There is no evidence, however, that the manuscript originated there, and the textual evidence of the psalms suggests rather an association with the so-called 'Anglo-Saxon' family of manuscripts.
