This manuscript was produced in Charles the Bald's palace school. It contains the four Latin gospels on 214 folios. Large miniatures of the evangelists, seated within a crenellated wall, are at the beginning of each gospel followed by a page decorated with large full-page initials.
The picture shows folio 72v representing St. Mark with his attribute, the winged lion.
