The picture shows folio 125v with a full-page miniature
depicting "St Martin dividing cloak with a beggar".
Saint Martin of Tours famously cut his Roman military cloak in half with his sword at the gates of Amiens to share with a shivering beggar. That night, he had a vision of Jesus wearing the half-cloak he had given away, which led to his full conversion.
The upper part of the miniature depicts Martin cutting his cloak with a sword. His arm extends diagonally across the picture field, holding the sword prominently. The lower part shows the saint with extended arms. The miniature is set against a burnished gold background, with a patterned border.
