The Crucifixion on folio 152r is the most elaborate composition in the cycle. Christ hangs on a green cross fixed with three nails beneath the titulus "IHC NAZARENVS REX IVDEORVM." The Virgin, supported by a haloed attendant, holds a scroll reading "ANIMA MEA LIQUEFACTA EST" ("My soul melted") on the left, and John stands on the right. Above the arms of the cross, two half-length angels hold personifications of the sun and the moon. The sun figure is red and grey with a face, the moon a female face rising above a crescent.
