The parchment codex of 152 folios contains a Bestiary (folios 3r-141r) and a Lapidary (folios 141v-149r). The Bestiary includes excerpts of the Pantheologus of Peter of Cornwall (also known as Peter of Aldgate), prior of Christchurch, Aldgate (1197-1221). It was made for a librarian of the Benedictine abbey at Rochester. The codex is decorated with 55 framed miniatures in colours and gold.
The picture shows folio 24v with an unfinished miniature depicting a manticora.
