Carmina Burana

This manuscript contains an anthology of approximately 300 Latin and High Middle German songs of students and vagabonds as well as German minnesongs. It is not just because of Carl Orff's congenial musical composition that this song collection, which was found in the Benediktbeuern Abbey, has achieved recognition. It has 8 full-page charming miniatures among which the picture on folio 64v depicting a wooded landscape stands out with its transformation of oriental imagery of paradise into a spring landscape.
