This manuscript, illuminated in Paris about 1260, contains many Aristotelian texts. Folio 276r, illustrated here, shows the opening of De Differentia Spiritus et Animae by Costa ben Luca (Qusta ibn Luqa, 820–912), a Melkite Christian of Greek origin from Lebanon, physician, scientist and translator. (This text is sometimes wrongly attributed to Aristotle himself.) It is illustrated with a miniature of the Tree of Jesse. The manuscript was made with wide margins for glossing in the classroom.
