The manuscript in the Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana (Shelfmark: Reg.lat.1283.pt.A) is a historically significant composite codex of medieval texts and fragments. It is divided into two main parts, Parts A and B.
Part A (folios 1-36) contains the Libro de Astromagia, created between 1276 and 1279 for King Alfonso X of Castile. The picture shows folio 1r, the opening page of this book. It has two-column Gothic text with a large initial O and, within the text, small initials alternating in blue and red.
