This manuscript contains the Decretum Gratiani, a work of canon law composed towards 1140 to 1142. It is a typical Bolognese manuscript, both in its script and in its decoration. The illumination of this codex has been attributed to a group of Bolognese artists from the fourteenth century.
The miniature on folio 198, shown here, depicts a young girl taking the veil.
