This massive manuscript is decorated with 93 miniatures. It belonged to John II of France (reigned 1350-1364) and was captured from him when he was defeated by the Black Prince at the Battle of Poitiers in 1356. The miniature on folio 5v, shown here, depicts God creating the animals and Adam.
