This codex is very large in format and extensively decorated with large initials at the beginning of each canto and with 170 miniatures, some of them full-page, distributed among the text, which is laid out in two columns. One of the illuminators has been identified as Jacopo da Verona (1355-1442).

The miniature on folio 53v illustrates Canto I of Paradise. It shows Beatrice pointing out the sun to Dante.
