This English parchment codex is a general encyclopedia in two volumes, arranged in alphabetic order. The author is James le Palmer (b. before 1327, d. ca. 1375). It contains numerous miniatures of Old and New testament subjects, as well as numerous small and large historiated initials in colours and gold.
The picture shows an initial from folio 535v of the second volume, depicting a magician invoking devils and endangering his immortal soul.
