This Book of Hours in two volumes was made for Simon de Varie (it is also called the Hours of Simon de Varie). It contains also a Calendar, use of Paris. The illuminators were the Master of Jean Rolin and the Master of the Dunois Hours. The decoration consists of 17 miniatures in volume I, 19 miniatures in volume II, and decorated initials and border decorations.
The illumination on folio 4v depicts St John the Baptist Preaching. The size of the miniature is
55 x 35 mm.
