This manuscript contains the comedy "Armiranda" by the humanist Giovanni Michele Alberto da Carrara from Bergamo (1438-1490). Folio 1v, shown here, serves as a frontispiece. It depicts two figures standing in a circular flower meadow, surrounded by a woven wicker fence. On the left the author, wearing black and purple, is shown offering his work to the woman who wears an elegant red brocade garment with gold decoration and ermine trimmings. She is shown offering a laurel crown to the author and can thus be identified as Fame.
The elegant decoration was executed by an illuminator in northern Italy, perhaps by Bonifazio Bembo.
