This manuscript, the Ordinal of Alchemy, was written, in verse, by Thomas Norton, of Bristol. It contains the first five chapters of the work. The miniature on folio 37 depicts the preparation of alchemical experiments in which a master and two apprentices are engaged. The alchemist is seated at a table with bowl and scales; two kneeling apprentices are attending to the furnaces.
