This book was printed in Milan in 1499 by Ulrich Scinzenzeler, a Bavarian printer active in Milan between 1477 and 1500. This edition derives from the Bolognese edition of 1498. Beneath the title on the frontispiece, shown here, there is a woodcut illustration representing a warrior wearing armour and a helmet, his left hand rests on a shield and in his right he holds a club. The woodblock for this woodcut was used again in later publications.
