This fresco is the work of an important painter working in a Byzantine and late Romanesque-Gothic cultural context. The frescoed lunette shows St Helena within a triumphal arch. Below the heads of Sts John, Peter, Thomas and Martius are depicted. The balcony on which St Helena appears is a sort of Roman triumphal arch with three barrel vaults, seen from a three-quarter angle, with a bold three-dimensional effect.
