Abbey Church of Sainte-Foy, Conques (Aveyron)

The abbey church at Conques was built from 1050 to 1130. It is dedicated to St Fides (Saint Foy) whose statue made from gold and jewels, dating from around 1000 is still an object of veneration. The oldest part of the church is the chancel area, and both its interior and exterior constitute a highly complex and impressive work of art. It is an important pilgrimage church along the route to Santiago de Compostela.

The photo shows a view of the village and of the church of Saint-Foy from the south-east.
