One of the most impressive Ottonian tower is that of the cathedral in Paderborn. Designed to draw attention to the choir and the cathedral, the powerful tower ascends dramatically without a plinth from the ground up into the sky, flanked on either side up to half its height by round stairway turrets. This mighty edifice dominates the skyline of the town.
