The rebuilding of Bayeux Cathedral began with the choir about 1230-1245, whose rich architectural decoration stands in marked contrast to that of the choir of Coutance Cathedral which was constructed about the same time based on the same model (the extension of the choir at Saint-Étienne in Caen). Most of the piers are surrounded by a host of filigree shafts, and the soffits of the arches develop into a variety of profiles.
The photo shows the choir.
