In the impressive building of San Lorenzo Maggiore in Naples, the nave is made up of a broad space with an open truss roof and side chapels. A three-centred arch links the nave to the protruding transept and aisled chancel, which terminates in an ambulatory with radiating chapels. This essentially French east end was originally added to an older building, before the nave was completely remodeled.
