The transept fronts of Bordeaux Cathedral are based on northern French models. The new Gothic building was begun in the 1260s with the construction of the choir, modeled on the choir of Reims Cathedral. The façades, begun shortly before 1300 and completed in late 14th century, adapt the Rayonnant style of Paris. The photo shows the north front of the cathedral.
