The Duomo (Cattedrale dei Santi Mariano e Giacomo) is the main Catholic church in Gubbio. In spite of some controversy, it seems as it stands to be a wholly fourteenth-century building. The virtual engulfing of the left flank by the hillside probably explains the placing of the bell tower immediately above the choir.
