Braganza Castle, Bragança

Some interesting, if often heavily restored, medieval military buildings have been preserved in Portugal, such as castles, fortresses, fortified towers and walls. A characteristic example of these is the castle of Braganza, begun around 1309. It consists of a curtain wall fortified with towers, inside which is the monumental keep called the Torre de Menagem.
