In the Late Gothic era many churches were completed on which work had been interrupted for a long time. As the large main front was usually constructed after the completion of the church, architects of the 15th and 16th centuries were particularly on demand for work on fronts.

In Normandy there are several Late Gothic towers. During this period, tower foundations that already existed were often completed, as for example, over the crossing of Saint-Ouen in Rouen. Above the second square story, which belongs to the Early Flamboyant of the 1440s, the octagonal tower constructed between 1490 and 1515 rises like a gigantic crown, surrounded by four corner turrets to which it is connected by elegantly curved flying buttresses.

The photo shows the crossing tower.
