In the Late Gothic era many churches were completed on which work had been interrupted for a long time. As the large main front was usually constructed after the completion of the church, architects of the 15th and 16th centuries were particularly on demand for work on fronts.

In Normandy there are several Late Gothic towers. During this period, tower foundations that already existed were often completed, as for example, the tower of Notre-Dame in Caudebec-en-Caux, a church begun in 1382. The high octagon that crowns the tower was constructed in the period 1490-1515. The polygon, begun in 1491, is completed by a spire finished around 1515.
