Telc is a town in southern Moravia in the Czech Republic. The town was founded in the 13th century as a royal water fort on the crossroads of busy merchant routes between Bohemia, Moravia and Austria. The historic centre of Telc features a triangular town square (market square) which is a unique complex of long urban plaza with well-conserved Renaissance and Baroque houses of medieval origins with high gables and arcades.
The houses are linked by a continuous arcade. Their façades are characterized by a great diversity as regards the choice of decorative elements. In the middle of the market square, there is a fountain and a plague column. A little further, there is the town hall, the Church of the Holy Spirit, the Jesuit College and the Gothic St James parish church.
