Marekerk, Leiden

The Marekerk in Leiden is one of the fine examples of the Calvinist preaching churches in the Netherlands. The master builder Arent van 's-Gravesande (c. 1610-1662) used a ground plan derived from antiquity, an octagon with ambulatory, which had been interpreted by Leonardo da Vinci.
