Many mansions in Schleswig-Holstein have an Italianate appearance. The hall in the country house in Hasselburg is a crown of Baroque achievement in the region. A vista of the gatehouse built in 1763 opens from the house on a central axis forming the centrepiece of a courtyard grouping some 600 meters away. Its massive roof sweeps elegantly upwards and culminates in a lantern, giving it the appearance of a pavilion.
The photo shows the gatehouse.
