AGUADO LÓPEZ, Antonio
(b. 1764, Sangüesa, d. 1831, Sangüesa)
Puerta de Toledo, Madrid
Aguado López received the commission for the Puerta de Toledo from Ferdinand VII. The king ordered this city gate to be built in 1816-17 as a visible sign of the restoration of Bourbon rule. This severely designed triumphal arch was the last to be built in Madrid.
