In his Allegory of Touch Frans Floris - similarly to the sheets depicting the other senses from the Five Senses - applied a dual attribute. On her extended arm the female figure holds a hawk pricking into her flesh. This same depiction also features a tortoise, an animal especially sensitive to touch.

The majestic female figure of this allegory with a classical profile embodies the heroic ideal type that emerged under the influence of Michelangelo.
