Antoni Gaudí, one of the world's most famous architects at the end of the nineteenth century, was also a daring designer of furniture, railings and other items of decoration for his houses. He was a forerunner of ergonomic design, breaking with academic repertories and foreshadowing industrial design.

Very few pieces of Gaudí's furniture have been saved, though some examples are still seen in the Sagrada Familia and private homes.
