Palau de la Generalitat, Barcelona

The Gothic courtyard (Pati Gótic) of the Palau de la Generalitat (now the Parliament, the seat of the Catalan autonomous government) in Barcelona is an example of Catalan palace architecture. The courtyard is flanked by the façade of the Capella de Sant Jordi (St George Chapel) with its rich covering of Flamboyant decoration. Such interior courtyards with flights of steps and arcaded galleries on several floors became a standard feature of the urban palaces built by the Catalan nobility.
